Hi! My name is Chad Melton. I started serving the Lord and received the Holy Ghost at the age of six. I am now fourteen.
I was blessed at the age of nine to receive a natural God given talent and immediately began playing songs on the saxophone on the first day. I began playing publicly approximately six months later. I have been inspired by lessons and teachings of Major Ivory Irvin, Larry Pierson, Paul Tinker and Leon Brown. My first public performance occurred at the Juneteenth Celebration in June 2002.
At the age of ten, I was on a field trip with Walnut Hill Middle School, when a terrible accident occurred. I fell from the top of a slide at a local park, broke both of my wrist, fractured my jaw, tore the bottom part of my mouth loose requiring sixty stitches and the doctor said I would never be able to play again.
My accident happened on May 5, 2003. I was scheduled to play for the United Pentecostal Church International's Louisiana District Camp Meeting in Tioga, Louisiana, on July 6, 2003. I received prayer and God miraculously healed me and I played the sax at the camp meeting which was two months after my accident. I give God the glory!
In 2004, I released my first CD titled "Praise Is What I Do". Since then, I have played at various events at Walnut Hill School, Fair Park High School and The Strand Theater. I average about twenty-five churches and events each year.
I have won many awards both academically and musically. I received the Presidential award for Academic Excellence in 2004. I was chosen Best Musician at Walnut Hill School for the 2004 / 2005 school year and was one of the first sixth-graders to play in the seventh and eighth grade Honor Band. I won the 2005 Caddo Parish Art Break Talent Show with "Best of Show" and won the 2006 Caddo Parish Art Break Talent Show with "Best of Class" in Shreveport, Louisiana. My talents include the piano, organ, drums, flute, soprano sax and the alto sax. I give God the glory for the gift and talent he has given me and will always put him first in my playing, and in all I do.
God Bless,
Chad Melton
